South Africa is a land of immense beauty. While you are here, why not take the opportunity to plan a trip around our country and have a row in different venues across South Africa. We'd like to make this as easy as possible for you and give you an opportunity to meet some of our local rowers too. Here is a list of some of our venues and clubs across the country. VICTORIA LAKE, GERMISTON - GAUTENG

Victoria Lake is the premier rowing venue in Johannesburg which hosts the South African Sprint Regatta annually. It is situated in the East Rand and was established in the early days of the gold rush. There are 2 masters rowing clubs that are based out of here being Victoria Lake Rowing Club and Ravens Rowing club.

WEMMER PAN, JOHANNESBURG - GAUTENG

Wemmer Pan is based near the centre of Johannesburg. It was originally a quarry and was later taken over by the City Deep Mine which required the water for mining purposes. It hosts a Wemmer Pan Sprint Regatta which is 702m annually and this is one of the oldest regattas in South Africa. There are 2 masters clubs that row out of there and they are Vikings Rowing Club and Wemmer Pan Rowing Club

DURBAN - KWA-ZULU NATAL

Durban Rowing Club is based in the coastal city of Durban, known for its warm seas and great weather year round. Their base is the Durban Harbour Yacht Club. Rowing out of the harbour is a really special experience with big ships floating past you and some of the best sunrises.

HOWICK - KWA-ZULU NATAL

Midmar Dam is famous for hosting the biggest inland swim in the world the Midmar Mile. Based in the heart of Kwa Zulu Natal, Midmar Dam has close access to the Drakensburg Mountains and the Natal coast line. A wonderful stop off point on your way to explore our sea and mountains

EAST LONDON - EASTERN CAPE

The Buffalo River based in East London is home to the Buffalo Regatta which began in 1881. It is famously known for the two magnificent trophies at stake, namely the Buffalo Grand Challenge (for Senior A Coxless Fours) and the Silver Sculls (for Senior A Single Sculls). These two trophies are commonly regarded as the most valuable trophies in South Africa. The eastern cape boasts some of the most beautiful white beaches and miles and miles of open spaces. There are many little towns in this province that can excite every traveller.

CAPE TOWN - WESTERN CAPE

There are two masters rowing clubs in Cape Town. Alfreds Rowing Club has their home base at the freshwater lake called Zeekoevlei located in Grassy Park in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. Cape Coastal Rowing uses False Bay Yacht Club as their base. Cape Town is one of the most picturesque cities in the world and is famously known for Table Mountain and its winelands.

ELGIN - WESTERN CAPE

Elgin is a large, lush area of land, circled by mountains, in the Overberg region of South Africa. This broad upland valley lies about 70 km southeast of Cape Town. The Elgin region is centered on the town of Grabouw. Give yourself a treat and go rowing at Eikenhof dam in Grabouw. The most picturesque, freshest water in South Africa, surrounded by orchards and mountains in the apple country.
